Shocking Video Captures Moment Law Enforcement Suffer Blade Attacks in Surprise Attack
One ranking policeman who jumped to the aid of a partner that got attacked by a knife attacker received the Monarch's Honor for Valor.
Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with 27-year-old Jacob Brown after he held a knife to the throat of his fellow officer Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the officers and their third officer, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a driver subsequent to a vehicle incident in that location in summer 2023.
Brown stabbed and slashed both Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster before PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a electric weapon.
"Policeman knifed," PC Wolstencroft could be heard saying over his radio.
Officer-mounted and vehicle camera video released by the police department showed Brown, who was dressed in dark clothing with a hood covering head, run up to Sergeant Foster from behind with a weapon outstretched.
He ran into the officer who tripped and dropped to the pavement, before Sgt Ansell stepped in and tried to wrestle him to the ground although being continually attacked with the weapon.
Police Constable Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and waited for a safe opportunity, ending the confrontation to an end.
Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "Can I get assistance on my neck now, I've been stabbed in the neck."
Sgt Ansell sustained two deep cuts to his neck and more injuries to his arms and body, whereas Sergeant Foster experienced cut injuries.
Officials reported Sgt Foster used his bare hands to control his colleague's blood loss before emergency responders came.
The new honor comes after the trio of policemen received organizational Courage Honors in late 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the area Police Federation in April 2024.
They further earned a Regional Courage Honor in summer 2024.
"The responses of each policeman eventually rescued one another and ensured no members of the public endured any wounds."
Brown received a sentence to an psychiatric detention in spring 2024, per officials.
