In a bizarre partnership that challenges conventional predictions, Ubisoft has announced an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including free extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Revealed

According to the formal announcement, "An unusual meeting leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where hints of forbidden practices and monstrous transformations resonate through the obscurity." The narrative features a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a hidden sect.

The questline focuses on "strange trials and a terrifying enemy" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Metamorphoses

The teaser showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser finishes with a striking moment showing a character, presumably the captive, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Additional Features

Players who successfully complete the quest will obtain an unique katana alongside numerous objects concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

Latest Free Story Content

This patch also brings the game's newest free story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive abilities: Naoe reveals a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

The series previously featured a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
