This race was expected as one of the stronger editions of this unique seven-furlong competition for female horses. Yet, vet checks resulted in several scratches this morning, such as top contenders Sweet Azteca as well as Tamara.

Consequently, the field now appears significantly reduced, but conditioner Bob Baffert stands a strong chance to claim a twentieth Breeders’ Cup victory. His runners include Richi along with Splendora, whereas Hope Road, victor in the Grade One Ballerina Stakes, is viewed as the main challenger.
